Our contribution to climate protection
terranova is a pioneer of cycling tourism with over 40 years of company history and extensive tourism experience. As a medium-sized bike tour operator, terranova is committed to the principles of sustainable business as the basis of its existence.
All tours organized by ourselves are climate neutral. We cooperate with the non-profit foundation Wilderness-international based in Germany and Canada. The costs for compensation in the destination are already included in the tour price for all our original tours. terranova has had the nature consumption = CO₂ footprint of all self-organized tours calculated for this purpose. It is terranova's practice to compensate the CO² flight emissions through contributions. When booking a flight through terranova, the CO² compensation costs are included in the ticket price. We cooperate with wilderness-international.org for this purpose.
Wilderness International
Wilderness International is a non-profit foundation based in Germany and Canada. Its goal is the protection of unique intact natural areas worldwide. Currently, the focus is on wilderness areas in the temperate rainforest on the west coast of Canada. The protected areas are located in British Columbia's Toba Valley, about 160km north of Vancouver. There, the foundation purchases wilderness areas that are legally protected in the long term through entry in the land register. Wilderness International leaves the areas as they are, as unique ecosystems undisturbed by human influence. In this way, ancient trees, habitat and biodiversity are preserved forever.

Climate-conscious travel with terranova | We compensate you for your arrival and departure
Since our guests travel from many different regions and choose different means of transport, we cannot include the CO
the carbon footprint of the journey to and from the destination.
It is terranova's practice to compensate the CO² flight emissions through contributions. When booking a flight through terranova, the CO²
compensation costs are included in the ticket price. We cooperate with wilderness-international.org for this purpose.
If you do not book your flight through terranova, you also have the option of offsetting the CO² flight emissions. For this
we recommend our partner atmosfair. atmosfair is a non-profit climate protection organization with a focus on travel. Air passengers pay a climate protection contribution depending on the emissions, which atmosfair uses to expand renewable energies in countries where they are still scarce, i.e. mainly in developing countries. In this way, atmosfair saves CO² that would otherwise have been generated by fossil energies in these countries. www.atmosfair.de
atmosfair - climate-conscious travel
atmosfair gGmbH is a non-profit climate protection organization based in Berlin. It was founded in 2004 as a result of a research project of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment and a joint initiative of the tour operator association forum anders reisen and the environmental and development organization Germanwatch.
atmosfair develops and operates climate protection projects through the expansion of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies, advises and accompanies companies and institutions on the transformation path to decarbonized business, and offers environmentally conscious people the opportunity to offset unavoidable CO₂ emissions in the global South.
Since its founding, atmosfair's motivation has been: The increasing burden on the world's climate caused by the rapid growth in air traffic poses significant challenges for the global community. People in the global south suffer the most from the consequences of climate change that they did not cause. In addition to the airlines and tour operators, individual air passengers also have a responsibility. The idea behind atmosfair is to inform and educate them and to offer them a positive way to take action.
