On this cycling trip you will discover the Palatinate and the Rheingau. Through idyllic landscapes you travel from one wine region to the next. A pleasure trip characterized by historical and cultural highlights. Discover the colorful, german variety and prepare yourself for spectacular scenery!

Itinerary:

Day 1: From Frankfurt to the Rheingau – 52 kilometers by bike
Cycle relaxed along the Main and fantastic vineyards. The route starts on the southern bank of the Main and leads to the impressive medieval old town in Höchst. A short detour to the Old Town of Mainz takes you through a 2000-year history. Ancient Roman ruins can still be found and one of the most important dome on the Rhine. On the banks of the Rhine you will discover the splendid Biebrich Castle, a masterpiece from the Baroque epoch and impresses with its huge castle grounds. Let yourself be seduced by a taste of the Rhine Riesling along idyllic wine growing places along the picturesque promenade in Eltville!
1. Overnight stay at Hotel Schloss Reinhartshausen (category A) / Hotel Frankenbach – Mainzer Hof (category B)
Day 2: From Rheingau to the wine region Rhinehessen wine region – 31 kilometers by bike
Today, the cycle path leads you along the the Rhine. A little detour takes you to the world famous wine city of Rüdesheim. You take the gondola up to the Niederwalddenkmal and enjoy a unique view over the vineyards of the Rhineland. Afer crossing the river you get to Bingen! In Bad Kreuznach, the place of health, you can enjoy the largest open air inhalatorium in Europe. In the valley of the river you will find the popular photo motive of the medieval bridge where houses are build on.
2. Overnight stay at Hotel Fürstenhof (category A) / Hotel Michelmort (category B)

Day 3: Through Rheinhessen to Worms – 62 kilometers by bike
Before you lies a particularly charming cycle route through Rheinhessen. The town of Kirchheimbolanden still reminds you of the former county with its city walls, towers and cavalcades. In the footsteps of Martin Luther, the Romanesque cathedral, one of the most important medieval churches, awaits you in Worms. The highlight of the day is the walk through the grounds of the Jewish cemetery in Worms. It is the largest and oldest in Germany and guarantees an unforgettable experience.
3. Overnight stay at the Parkhotel Prinz Carl (category A) / Sandwiese Weingut Winzerhotel (category B)

Day 4: From Worms to Rhodt under Riedburg – 58 kilometers by bike
Today you cycle through the landscape of the “Pfälzer Weinstraße”. Their many famous wine growing places can not make the heart of a wine lover beat faster. You will also find charming historic buildings in the largest wine growing town of the Palatinate: Deidesheim. The bishop’s palace, with its particularly beautiful castle grounds and its old aristocratic buildings, has a double flight staircase. The cozy cycle route leads you to the romantic wine town of Roth. Small houses with picturesque wine growing farms characterize the village. In the footsteps of King Ludwig I. you end the cycle trip in the charming Villa Ludwigshöhe. From here you have a unique view over the vineyards into the Rhine valley.
4. Overnight stay in Rhodt in Hotel Reebschule

Day 5: From Rhodt under Riedburg to Heidelberg – 52 kilometers by bike
Along the Rhine you will reach Speyer, famous for its important romanesque cathedral. It is the largest preserved romanesque cathedral in the world and belongs to the world cultural heritage! In the center of Schwetzingen you can see the glamorous castle grounds. It was created in the 18th century. The fusion of the geometric and the landscape style make it a masterpiece of european horticulture. You end the day in Heidelberg, a magical city at the Neckar, which is worth an own trip! Its world famous city panorama at the foot of the Heidelberg Castle justifies an extensive tour through its old town and through the alleyways around the gothic Church of the Holy Spirit.
5. Overnight stay in Heidelberg Hotel Hirschgasse (category A) / Hotel Artotel (category B)

Day 6: From Heidelberg to Zwingenberg – 45 kilometers by bike
Today you continue alternately along the beautiful river bank and along the hills of the Odenwald. In Ladenburg, you will be immersed in the historic old town, where you will discover the history of the romans between old half timbered houses. In Lorsch you can admire the historic gate hall, which today is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. The so called “Torhalle” dates back to the Carolingian period and is the only survivor of the monastery. One of the highlights of your cycling trip today is the ruins of Auerbach Castle. Its silhouette is a sight from a distance and completes your cycling tour, which is characterized by history!
6. Overnight stay in Zwingenberg At Hotel Poststuben

DAY 7: From Zwingenberg to Frankfurt – 59 kilometers by bike
Today’s bike route takes you through numerous idyllic forests and to the historic old town of Dreieichenhain. Its historical center has the ruins of a water castle of the Staufer and numerous interesting half timbered houses. In Kranichstein is the hunting castle of the Hessian earls. Today this castle has become a hunting museum with its spectacular layout on a lake. Also the picturesque park Rosenhöhe is worth a visit. Your cycling tour will end at the starting point in Frankfurt.
